ZFA provided structural engineering services for this medical office building that includes a primary care clinic, laboratory, and a dental clinic, as well as physician offices and support space. The single-story structure is over 17,000 square feet and meets the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development ‘OSHPD 3’ requirements.
Unique features of the building include a pop-up clerestory at the entry, a rooftop mechanical screen and an eyebrow shade feature around the perimeter. The construction of the building is structural steel framing on a 29-foot square column grid with an untopped metal deck roof. The exterior walls are balloon-framed with cold-formed studs, and plywood sheathing is utilized for the lateral force-resisting system. The foundation system consists of a slab-on-grade with shallow continuous and spread footings.
