The Signorello Winery was one of nearly 800 structures destroyed by the 2017 Atlas Peak Fire, which burned more than 50,000 acres throughout Napa County. ZFA is honored to contribute to the return of this renowned winery, which has served Napa since 1977. Built into the hillside, Signorello’s new facility is better protected from potential wildfires. The caves are waterproof, insulated, and refrigerated, with the ability to be fully sealed if necessary.
The new winery includes an award-winning, 9,600-square-foot fermentation building that consists of precast concrete walls and roof structures, including exposed double T beams in the tank room. An 8,400-square-foot hospitality building with an upstairs residence is planned to be built nearby, constructed of structural steel, concrete, and glass, with cantilevered roofs. The winery includes 10,000 square feet of caves (cave design by others), as well as multiple support buildings, and it will also feature a professional kitchen, allowing for food and wine pairings.
ZFA provided structural engineering for the fermentation building and future residence, as well as for a tenant improvement of the tasting experience area in the wine caves.
