Fairchild Medical Center Emergency Department Expansion

Category: Heal
Yreka, CA

ZFA has worked on multiple projects for the Fairchild Medical Center and is currently providing structural engineering services for a new two-story, 23,000-square-foot emergency department building. This state-of-the-art, OSHPD 1 facility will help meet the needs of the Yreka community, offering expanded and modernized medical services.

The new building is steel-framed with a concrete over metal deck floor. To enhance the seismic performance, buckling restrained braces were selected for the lateral system. These braces provide high ductility and resistance to damage, improving the facility’s ability to remain fully operational after a significant seismic event.

The project also includes a 4,000-square-foot renovation of the existing single-story emergency department, allowing clinic spaces for various treatments, such as pain management and cardiopulmonary care. The renovation scope involves new and altered partition walls, anchoring auxiliary equipment, and supporting new roof-mounted mechanical units.
