Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

An Engineer shall have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil, architectural or structural engineering. Professional registration as a licensed Civil Engineer is desired but not required at this level, however intent to register is preferred. A master’s degree is appreciated. Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and practice is required. Must have the ability and desire to learn project-engineering skills as well as be personable to maintain positive client relationships for ZFA.

An Engineer is to meet the responsibilities of a Designer in addition to being independently responsible for: the quality of structural engineering work performed, informing project manager of budget issues and increases in scope of work, providing high-quality client service and maintaining the positive reputation of the office. An Engineer possesses the primary daily design and technical skills necessary to conduct work with a great degree of independence.

Salary range:

$75,000 – $95,000

This range provides a reasonable estimate of the base salary that an applicant may be paid. Actual pay rates may vary from this range depending on various factors including education, experience, skills and location.

Exercise maturity and sound judgment in decision making, anticipate issues, solve project-related problems and communicate budget issues

Manage financial and technical aspects of small projects

Provide high-quality project construction documents, calculations, and reports, and serve as effective support for project team members

Learn to use and help improve in-house project tools (including 3D Revit modeling), policies, systems and procedures

Coordinate with other consultants and review agencies

Attend project meetings and site visits

Remain current on code issues and expand engineering knowledge by reviewing technical information and new construction methods or products, attending seminars, etc.

Be proactive in presenting and communicating the capabilities and strengths of the company
