By the time Nick joined ZFA in 2011, he had developed a wealth of industry knowledge, having started his career as a drafter while in high school in 1998 and working as an engineer through college. At ZFA, Nick has successfully managed many challenging projects, ranging from seismic retrofits of public schools to design of university recreation centers and work on retail facilities. Nick is especially adept at designing computer programming applications to bring structural engineering to life.
Highlights:
-
- A problem solver with a passion for working on complex projects
- Highly technical asset with expertise in complex foundation analysis, post-tensioned concrete, seismology, and structural reliability
- Designed Ecto #2—a sculpture commissioned by an artist—using a 3D analysis model that utilized innovative “reality catch” technology, which analyzes still photographs to generate a 3D mesh by triangulating each photo’s unique identifiable points
He is a member of the ASCE 7-22 update committee as well as seismic and performance-based design subcommittees. In this capacity, he continues to contribute toward developing and disseminating technical expertise that strengthens ZFA’s position as an industry leader in the Northern California region and beyond.
